A 17-year-old student, Tetrina Iye Turay, was burnt to death along Merewether Primary School at Jomo Kenyatta Road on Boxing Day. The fatal accident occurred as a result of a car collision when a “poda-poda” driver lost control of his vehicle and hit two vehicles in the process.
Police Sergeant 6592 Tholley of the Central Police Station told this press that the deceased, Tetrina, was sitting at the back of the burnt vehicle with registration number AFQ 233. He disclosed that another victim inside the vehicle also received severe wounds all over his body but survived the accident. The victim is presently hospitalized.
Tholley explained that, according to the driver of AFG 057 he lost control of the vehicle along the Central Medical Stores building right onto Merewether School. In the process the vehicle hit two other vehicles including the vehicle with registration number AFQ 233. He said the “poda poda” van was also burnt during the accident.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
